Time Change

Time for a real update.

Tuesday is going to be insane and I'm very excited about it!

I have an audition for a play called Sophistry. It will run on Broadway (!!!) from April 20-June 7. I've picked up the play by Jonathan Marc Sherman the other day and did a close read this morning.

The role I would want is that of Robin Smith. Robin, according to the casting breakdown, is as follows:

Robin Smith: Woman, early 20's. Midwestern. Very pretty, personable. Vulnerable, compassionate but a quiet and resolute strength. Honors student/crusading student journalist/calss valedictorian. Trained as a dancer when younger. Goes out with Ex, but has strong friendship with Igor. Emotionally and intellectually mature for her age. Played in 1993 by Calista Flockhart.

Another character possibility is that of Debbie. Here's her breakdown:

Debbie: Early 20's. Pretty. Strong character, determined, intelligent, ambitious, sexy. Something of a flirt. Less mature than Robin. Played in 1993 by Nadia Dajani.

Along with this audition on Tuesday, I have appointments with 2 agencies.

The first is for Barbizon (hit or miss from what I hear) for foot modeling. Yes, that's right- foot modeling. They're specifically looking for size 6, which is me. We'll see what comes of this. Worst case scenario is that nothing comes of it and that it was an adventure. However, if it all works out and seems legit, then this could be another avenue for me to pursue.

The foot appointment is at 3:15. I had it wrong on my previous post.

The next appointment I have is with a commercial agent. I've done projects with her previously, so I'm hoping that they'll officially take me on as a client. Keep your fingers crossed! That one is at 4:30 and is 2 blocks from my foot thing.

The evening of the 17th, I'll be meeting a friend to see Billy Elliot on Broadway. I know one of the children in the cast, so we'll meet after the show to say hello.

After that, I'll go home and fall asleep. It will be a long, but very rewarding day.

I'll post again closer to the big audition on Friday.

Luck Of The Irish?

Lots going on.

Here's what my Tuesday is looking like:

10 AM- Audition for Sohpistry
1:30- Meeting with an agent to discuss the possibility of foot modeling
Sometime between 4 and 6 PM- Meeting with a commercial agent
7 PM- Billy Elliot on Broadway and meeting Mitchell (and Bunny!) after

I'm hoping to be on the 10:30 or 11 PM bus home

Details to follow

BIG HUGE AUDITION IS THIS FRIDAY!

Bring on the Sarah Palin jokes!

Foot Fetish?

It was a pleasant surprise to see that I had an email from an agency who received my headshot and resume for foot modeling and wanted to meet in person. Finally, a break!

I have an appointment (hopefully) on Tuesday, March 17.

Happy St. Patty's Day for me!

Also, I received an invite to meet with a casting director for a personal meeting. I've worked with her company in the past (Z-Rock, anyone?) and have loved every single shoot. They seem to like me over there and since she does commercial casting, I figure that I should take this meeting. I know that all I need is 5 minutes with her and she'll see that I'm a funny gal who can sell almost anything. Commercials will be a good way to break out of doing work as an extra.

Speaking of breaking out of extra work, I plan on picking the mind of one of my actor friends to find out how he made the move. I don't know if it's because I'm non-union and agentless that I can't find anything or if it's because I'm not looking in the right place. Lots of factors. Once I have a list of questions, I'll see if I can track him down (he's BUSY!) to get a better idea of how to go about this crazy industry.

I will also talk to another contact I have about getting into SAG. I have direct access but lack the guts to hand over my headshot and resume...

It's a work in progress...

Oh, and my boss said that she was proud of me for working so hard and juggling a full time job with acting. She knows it's not easy and she really seemed excited about this meeting on Tuesday when I told her... Yay for support!

More to follow when I have specifics.

Maybe St. Patty's Day will be lucky afterall!

The Call

I went on break last night without my purse. Why is this important? Because my phone is in my purse.

The phone that had a voicemail from casting!

Turns out I booked the new Truth About Tobacco commercial! Yay! It shoots this Thursday and Friday in NYC.

However, finding coverage in an understaffed store in nearly impossible. I had to make the painful phone call to say "Sorry, my job sucks and isn't letting me out" and cancel my first national commercial.

Undoubtedly it ruined my night.

From one extreme to another.

This morning, in the 2 hours I've been awake, I have submitted myself for Jamison Whiskey and have created a cover letter to play a little girl for Curious George Live.

Talk about diversity.
